For those of you lucky people who are in Macedonia this year on holidays, i'd recommend that you go beyond your normal trip and check out some of the interesting sites across the country.

Skopje is a different city to what it once was. In 1963 it was hit by a devastating earthquake, bringing its examples of  historic architecture to rubble. It was rebuilt not in its original form, but with slabs of concrete using the then-communist fashion. The Macedonian government is now undertaking a project to rebuild the old iconic buildings that once stood in Skopje such as the national theatre, and making some new additions. Below is a video of the project, which is currently under construction.
