Alexander the Great Airport: New Terminal Under Construction

Skopje's Alexander the Great Airport is in the process of expansion with a new terminal to be built and managed by the Turkish company TAV, which aims to position the airport as a regional hub during its investment over the next 20 years. The terminal will increase passenger numbers tenfold and include features enjoyed by most international airports such as bridges leading on and off the parked planes.

The terminal is expected to be complete by the end of 2011.

Macedonian Refugees file for return of properties, Greece

The first group of refugee children from Aegean Macedonia smoothly entered Voden (officially called Edessa) this weekend, where they launched procedures for procurement of the necessary documents for return of their properties.

Rene Redžepi- Chef at worlds best Restaurant 2010

Skopje 2014 City Project

Skopje is a different city to what it once was. In 1963 it was hit by a devastating earthquake, bringing its examples of  historic architecture to rubble. It was rebuilt not in its original form, but with slabs of concrete using the then-communist fashion. The Macedonian government is now undertaking a project to rebuild the old iconic buildings that once stood in Skopje such as the national theatre, and making some new additions. Below is a video of the project, which is currently under construction.
